Topsun has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SK Eternix
for the joint development of renewable energy power generation and Battery
Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
BESS is an infrastructure business that installs and operates Battery Energy
Storage Systems to enhance the stability of power grids using renewable
energy sources such as solar and wind. Based on the project management
capabilities of Topsun and SK Eternix, the two companies will jointly promote
renewable energy development projects and participate in bids for the ESS
Central Contract Market through this MOU.
The ESS Central Contract Market is a system launched by the Ministry of Trade,
Industry and Energy in 2023 and is operated by the Korea Power Exchange to
ensure grid stability and efficient electricity supply management.
As of the first half of 2025, bids totaling approximately 540 MW have been completed.
With the government expected to expand ESS facilities and increase investments,
this MOU will enable active participation in the ESS Central Contract Market by
combining SK Eternix’s experience in developing and operating renewable energy
portfolios with Topsun’s expertise in designing and constructing transmission lines
and substations for stable grid integration of renewable power plants.
